INVEST IN PIŁA
Piła is the largest city in northern Wielkopolska Region, a major economic and academic center of the subregion, perceived as an outstanding location for investing, living and relaxing. The policy of the city is to maintain a sustainable development by improving economy, infrastructure, or educational and recreational offer.
Piła is also an academic center in the subregion with three universities: Nadnotecki Institute of Adam Mickiewicz University in Piła, Stanisław Staszic University of Applied Sciences in Piła, University of Economy in Bydgoszcz - Faculty of Economy and Technology in Piła. Moreover, local government cooperates with academic environment in terms of the organization of job fairs, involvement in the creation of dual studies and other projects aimed at adjusting the educational offer to the needs of the labor market and economic development of the region.
The city encourages investors owing to an attractive geographical location (location at the crossroads of national roads - the planned expressway S10 / S11, a railway junction, landing area with one of the longest runways in Poland), and its economic potential and perfect social climate. Leading sectors of the economy include the following industries: lighting industry, IT, electronic and electrical industry, printing services, HR, finance and accounting services, logistics, BPO, and environmental support technologies.
City authorities provide a favorable conditions for all investors and business entities with regard to procedures related to the investment process. It is accomplished owing to the efficient cooperation of the City Hall with the municipal company Inwest-Park. Strong business support is also provided by local business environment institutions operating in the city, including Chamber of Commerce in Northern Wielkopolska (Izba Gospodarcza Północnej Wielkopolski), The Guild of Different Crafts (Cech Rzemiosł Różnych), Association of Trade, Gastronomy and Services (Zrzeszenie Handlu, Gastronomii i Usług), Piła Unit of Wielkopolska Agency of Entrepreneurship Development (pilski oddział Wielkopolskiej Agencji Rozwoju Przedsiębiorczości.
The key tools supporting development of investments in Piła are in particular: the Pomeranian Special Economic Zone, the Kostrzyn-Słubice Special Economic Zone and the Industrial Zone in terms of which Piła has a wide offer of investment areas. An investor starting a business in Piła is able to take advantage of a range of investment incentives. Another factor that is also attractive from the investor’s point of view is the real estate tax rates, which in Piła Municipality have been set below the maximum national rates.
Since April 2016, the city authorities have implemented the program "FLAT TO START" (“Mieszkanie na start”). The aim of the program is to develop a mechanism to support creation of new jobs, in conjunction with the possibility of residential premises for new employees.
Piła is the leader of investment attractiveness (Forbes 2007/2008 ranking), it is also the most business friendly city (in 2012 1st place in the Wielkopolska Region and 12th in Poland according to “Newsweek” Magazine), 16th city in the country in the national ranking of Local Government Sustainable Development conducted under Promotional Emblem Foundation “TERAZ POLSKA”.
Piła also received the award as the most active municipality of the subregion in terms of the number of projects implemented within Wielkopolska Regional Operational Programme for the years 2007-2013 (Wielkopolska Star). On March 27, 2014 Piła was awarded a nationwide certificate and a statuette in the poll of the Euro Municipality under the patronage of the Ministry of Economy, where Piła received the highest award as the City of the Year. According to the survey on the quality of service of potential investors by the municipal offices, due to the permanent presence of the city of Piła in this research, in 2017 the city was also awarded a special certificate: Gold Municipality for 5! (Złota Gmina na 5!)
Piła also ranked 9th in the fDi Polish Cities of the Future 2017/18 ranking, which is organized by FINANCIAL TIMES - fDi Intelligence web portal. Of 50 Polish cities, the top 15 were chosen in the "FDI Strategy" category - Strategies for Foreign Direct Investments, in which Piła ranked 9th. The category refers to qualitative assessment of the city in terms of economic development, modernity and foreign investment in the region.
The excellent location, sustainable and dynamic development of the city in terms of infrastructure, economic, educational and leisure projects, as well as the local investor support system, Industrial Zone and Special Economic Zones - it’s only a few advantages mentioned by entrepreneurs and companies who have been with us for years and which have repeatedly emphasized that in Piła the city authorities actually feel concern about business development.
